Pook came to me knowing exactly 3 things: he wanted an illustrated version of himself, he wanted purple, and he wanted grass. We spoke extensively on the inspiration for his EP, I listened to the two songs, and I presented him with a variety of sketches. After a few drafts, we settled on the concept that represented his ability to make the best of the chaos around him, and in his mind - to grow from his own turmoil.

Upon graduating from Columbia University with his doctorate in English, Anderson decided that he wanted to commemorate the moment with a piece of art. This image, posted Columbia’s home page as a beacon of hope amidst the pandemic, tells a story of a black man paving a better road for his sons. Anderson gave me full creative liberty. He gave me his story, and a reference image and let me do my thing. My goal was to capture the beckoning light of a bright future that is also unknown.

Alaina requested a portrait of her and her mother. used highly saturated colors to emphasize their bright expressions of joy, reframed the image to make them the center of focus, and used the same color in their clothing to represent their unity, making them almost indistinguishable as separate bodies, reinforcing their bond.
